my car starts and it has AC. Yours doesn't start and it has no AC. Seems obvious to me.

Neon, looks like I will have to pull the top of the intake because I can not get my hands down there to change the hose! While I am there, I might as well bi-pass the TBLSHousing since I bi-passed the switch itself, now I will toss the plastic housing and just run a hose from the heater core to the the intake manifold. That plenum is a PITA to get off, but I will be at a friends shop so I'll let him strain his back!.....will also put in the Air Temp Sensor. Hopefully all will be fine in MercvilleOriginally posted by t65neon5 View Postya ...it could....especially if you have a weak collapsing vacuum hose, and or weak motor mounts....what happens is the motor,in gear, rocks on the mounts and either pinches the hose , or opens up a small split in the hose, causing a vacuum loss. therefore, the sensor reads wrong and poof.....it dies...or runs like crap, etc..... the hose runs from the sensor(mounted on the passenger side firewall or inner fenderwell) to the intake manifold under the intake plenum at the rear next to the firewall....and yes , its a bitch to get you hands back there, but if its never ben replaced, I would replace it, worse comes to worse, it should only cost a few bucks, and would at least knock one thing off the list of possibilities. the MAP sensor itself ususally doesn't go bad, but for diagnostic purposes, if you know someone who has a good spare, changing it out to see if it makes any difference wouldn't be a bad idea either (I wouldn't go buy a new one unless you have evidence that it is bad)....hope this helps.

Ok so today was a beautiful day, and the day I did the following:
New ATS, new vac hose from intake to MAP, toss out the plastic TBLOS housing and plug the vac lines, in it's place install a moulded FoMoCo heater core hose.
So now I wait.............to see if the car will surge stumble and stall (hey this sounds like a song) while in drive and stopped.
If so. the only thing left to do is replace the MAP sensor.
