Good Morning all.
I just came into work today and on the way in my check engine light went on about 11 times. came on for like 2-3 seconds, then went away. 2 of those times, it went on and off in 1-2 seconds increments for about 2-3 times. One thing I had noticed is the idle fluctuated when the check engine light turned on and off. When my commute was in town (towards the latter part of my trip), I noticed the idle was racing, but when the light went on, the idle went back to normal. I had not noticed this, or at least it didn't get worse until I was near work. The only reason I knew it was racing was because I popped it in neutral and the idle was racing.
Thank God I made it to work ok, but now I am really worried. My commute is 75 miles one way and I am really not looking forward to go home!
I have a 1989 Lincoln Town car with 135k on the clock. Changed the Plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, pcv.
She had stalling issues before that was was cleared up because one of the clasps to the distributor was loose.
Any help would be appreciated! I don't have any readers or tools on me.
