Does anyone have a name/part number?

I suppose this would be the appropriate sub-forum for this.

Does anyone have a name or part number for the part circled in red? Heater core supply pipe?

I would like to replace it before the engine is built. The only one I've found is the curved one that the CFI cars used.
Having a name or part number would be quite handy in locating a new one (if they're even available anymore).
I'll clean this one up if necessary, but would prefer a new one.

Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Is that ECT attached to it?

Maybe replace it with one of these?

Then run a Mustang steel heater tube.

Also, 95-98 3.8 Mustang uses that same fitting so could try your luck at a junkyard. I think it's discontinued from Ford.

I would prefer the original setup if possible.

What's wrong with the one in the photo? When I did my engine swap I used the mustang style heater pipe, and threw the original piece like shown above in the garbage. The mustang heater pipes have o rings in them that leak and I regretted throwing it away. After searching for a replacement for what you show above, I found there is noting out there so I got a dorman brand straight heater hose fitting (cant recall the specs) from autozone and a thermostat housing that allows the ect sensor to mount in it all for under $20 and I haven't had any leaks or headaches since. That's the solution buddy. Good luck.

You can see some pitting on the side opposite the ECT hole.

I didn't know they were discontinued. If that's the case, I'll maybe try to clean this one up, or find a nicer one. Should be able to find a decent one in the yards.

Bump. I keep forgetting the spare engine in the garage has less than 83K on it. Nothing is rusted on it. Except the fuel rails, damn.

                  It made a good donor

Just a little bit of rust on the edge. Nothing that can't be cleaned up. That motor has been well worth the 100 bucks I paid for it. Done a lot of referencing and harvesting.

Has anyone had any luck painting this kind of stuff to help prevent corrosion? I'm thinking it's not going to make much of a difference on the parts that see coolant.

Paint can help, but you're probably better off not painting the area where the hose goes, or you'll have a bitch of a time getting it off. Actually some dielectric grease in the end of the hose helps with that, and should help prevent corrosion too. At the end of the day though its steel and in contact with liquid and a dissimilar metal. The less nasty you keep the coolant, the better it will hold up.

It cleaned up pretty good. Just a bit of pitting on the inside. It should last for quite some time. Coolant gets changed at the recommended intervals.

...and I kind of already painted it.

Nothing a little bit of sandpaper won't fix.
