Those are hard enough with just a motor. Would not want to do a trans with it. Do a town car engine sometime with one of those. Next I have to the front bumper comes off.

I put a piece of cardboard between it and the front bumper, but otherwise it has no problem pulling them both. I guess on a TC with it's longer front it may be a problem.
WHat gear do you guys have that is able to lift an engine + trans out of one of these things in one piece? Good lord, it would need to pull the motor like 6 feet up to get it and the trans up and out of the hole, and hold about 1500 lbs of weight stably while doing it. Most engine hoists are only good for about 1000 with it all the way out, which is where it needs to be in order to reach a motor in a Panther. Maybe with an overhead beam trolly rig, but not with any cherry picker I've ever used. Do it on a Lincoln and you really need to remove the front bumper in order to get enough room. The plate on my car has been smashed to hell from engine swaps.
I pulled my 351/c4 out together on a sand/brick driveway by myself. I have a huge cherry picker, stands almost 6' at the elbow, legs and arms will extend out to about 7', thing weighs probably 200# alone. Guy used to pull fence posts straight out of the ground with it.
swapped mine as a unit with hood off. pretty easily from what i remember.
Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.
My goal is to get this done after Thanksgiving but before Christmas. We shall see. Going to get a Harbor Freight special - they sell two that both are capable of 1 ton, just need to figure out which one is the best. I'd rather use that than figure out how to rent one, then have it delivered, and be under a time crunch to get it back. $87/week is not worth the hassle. Two week rental and its nearly paid for.
Guessing the FelPro PermaDry 1 piece oil pan gasket is the way to go? Both cars are leaking oil from there.
