Other donors for a mini starter?

The starter in my 91 is going bad, and I didn't have any luck last time I was at the junkyard and did a half-ass scan for one. No '91 Vic/QMQ or '90 TC to be found!

I'm guessing most any 90's 5.0/AOD would have one, but what about a 3.8/AOD?

Or maybe someone knows of a common donor that one might not expect??

I'm starting to have to bump the switch more and more every time I drive it. I have a hammer and my remote-crank trigger in the car just in case... lol

I would take either part# E9SF11000BA or E9SZ11002BRM per Rock auto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...242&cc=1199538
and plug either (I used E9SZ11002BRM for my search) into Ebay to see what Ebay claims it will work on (http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-E9SZ110...649195&vxp=mtr)
Although Ebay is not always 100 percent accurate. Ebay's 15 page supported vehicle listing doesn't even list 90-91 Grand Marquis while Rockauto has a buyer's guide that says 78-91 Grand Marquis, but this starter will NOT work on any unmodified MGM older than 1990.

Hmm... that ebay ad doesn't list any cars... but then again it's not a Ford dealer's parts department.

This listing shows 35 pages of compatible vehicles, cars and trucks, and the 3.8L 232Cu. In. V6 is on the list.

3.8 should be the same. Uses the same transmission at any rate, so circumstantial evidence is decent.

Yup!
I wound up grabbing one from a 90's 3.8/AOD T-bird. I couldn't find a recently replaced one like I'd hoped, but there's a fair chance this 20 year old Motorcraft one will outlast a re-manufactured one... lol. ALL the vans and trucks had the trans and/or the motors pulled already leaving the starter MIA. I even checked for bastard block aeros... all I found were two similar T-birds and I took the less dirty one.
I also learned a valuable lesson - just because the fender mount starter solenoid makes a nice loud thunk-of-a-click, it doesn't means its good!
Luckily I had a good-used one in my basement, and now I have a spare starter for the 91 and the 85
