    Which Valve Cover Gasket?

I'm getting ready to replace my leaky valve cover gaskets. I'm using stock Ford Mustang 5.0 aluminum valve covers in place of the steel ones on the recommendation of my mechanic, but there are many, many different options for gaskets. He suggests a rubber/steel gasket, but even in that case there are choices. Which one(s) would you suggest (FelPro, Victor Heinz, something else)?

Fel Pro Permadry. Not cheap, but they work extremely well. The stock steel valve covers are OK, if ugly, but the cork gaskets suck. Old steel valve covers were kinda crappy too. They were very thin and distorted easily. the stock uglies we got were a lot thicker and held their shape pretty well.

      2nd the Fel Pro Permadry's.

I've tried the cheap rubber/steel gaskets from summit, and wasn't impressed.

PERMADRY. Don't even think about anything else. The rest are a waste of money.

Do you remember what they cost?
Factory steel/rubber gaskets in general are pretty good. At work if we do a transmission pan service on something, we always re-use the original rubber/steel if the filter kit comes with anything less.

Not sure what the F1ZZ-B valve cover gaskets cost today. As I remember, my cost (employee) from the dealership was around 18.00 per set.
As for the comment about thin and bending, the F1ZZ-B gaskets I used were 3x-thicker than the valve cover steel. I just used a set on a 5.8L CVPI last weekend.
