I was able to locate a new IAC valve at last. Correct part number. Got it installed and started the car. Same problem still present, but runs for about 10 minutes before stalling. According to the mechanic the MAP sensor is working fine. What else should I look for?

Check for sparlk at the plugs.

is there any update to this. i was having the same problem , then my alt was starting to go bad. and as it was going the problemwent away. i put a new alt in its back . i dont get itComment

Yes, did that - fuel pump can be heard, and sounds normal. Changed the fuel filter too even though one was installed just about a year ago. Spark at all plugs normal. (the Dizzy cap, rotor, wires and plugs, alternator, battery all less than 6 months old). MAP sensor checks out good.
