    So I am thinking.................

The 302 in the GM is a dog with 150 BHP.........since this is an EEC-4 ...........and the ECU is only for the engine............how about I pull the engine and go with a crate block of maybe 300 BHP............with carb............am I looking at a crazy amount of work and cash? I am just tired of FWNB's................."Ford with no balls"

Or just do an HO/Explorer swap and stay EFI.

easily done with EFI. Just a disclaimer, I'm in the anti-carb crowd. I got tired of dealing with them and have come to appreciate being able to get in the car under any weather conditions and have it start immediately every time.

You are going to need more than just a 300 hp motor to have "balls" You need a good trans, stall converter, gears, exhaust.... 300 hp in an otherwise stock car will be pathetic.

*Sigh* These threads always start out so innocent............what are you looking for? I need "300 hp" is a broad statement........racing? someone you have to beat? Just want some more punch? Honestly dyno numbers are irrelevant, its a tuning tool.......having said that gears and exhaust would really wake things up if its BONE stock at the moment and maybe keep you happy till the "new" wears off.........

HO conversion would be the next step IMHO but i would use the exploder intake over the HO (they are $50 at the local Pull-a-part) but the HO would work if thats all you have available, gt40 heads also if the price is right..........at this point you're starting to delve into the realm of a mass air swap possibly.........again there's lots of "little" stuff you can do without breaking the bank and still make the car enjoyable a little bit at a time.............more info on what you're actually wanting to do would bring things into focus............

with the right trans/gears, an HO will be hella fun under the hood of these boats. My 82 Mark has a stock HO from a mustang under the hood with 4.10 gears out back and it'll romp. better heads and a tune would probably get it close to 300HP, but the trans would need to be rebuilt.

indeed. Building the car in reverse makes more sense than just stuffing a motor under the hood. The stock engine actually can perform decently without any internal work. I wouldn't ever go so far as to call one fast, but they move a whole lot better than your typical car with exhaust work and gears. The brakes are also grossly marginal on these things. For a serious performance setup, you really ought to upgrade the brakes, and have the rear and trans set up to handle more power before it goes under the hood otherwise you'll end up with something that blows the trans and won't stop for shit.

This is how I increased my GMs output: bored out egr spacer, 60mm HO throttle body, bored out stock upper, 2 1/4 exhaust (ends in front of rear wheels and no mufflers). The power increase is very apparent. 19 lbs injectors and Lincoln logs should help some more.

Using 19lbs injectors on a lopo would be a waste and require a tune.
