Belt Sizes for 3G alternator swap and Smog Delete

Hi guys. I didn't know where to put this, but I thought I'd give you a little info on the belts, and their part numbers. Apparantly both belts have applications that are available at your parts store...

The first, the 505k6, the 3g Alternator belt (slightly longer than stock belt so it's easier to swing the belt over the alternator pulley). You can find this if you have your parts person look up a 2002 Ford Escort 2.0 SOHC engine with Air conditioning. Roughly About 23 bucks, more or less depending on where you normally shop...

Second, for all you A/C lovers is 560k6. This can be found if you ask the parts person look up a 1997 Dodge Caravan with a 2.4 engine with air conditioning. Roughly about 19 bucks, more or less depending on where you normally shop...

I used a 50" belt when I did my 3g swap and it was tight, but it's what I had laying around....the 50.5" you listed would work much better. Nice work on providing applications for those belts...most parts stores idiots don't know what a "50 1/2" 6-rib" belt is...lol.

I just ran some twine around the pullies once everything was in place and measured the length before heading to the parts store. My stores are stocked with people that can handle a simple part # lookup - liberal arts graduates from UF

I think this is the OEM size for anything with the large 100 amp 1G alternators like fleet cars and heated windshield cars.
I had that size belt on my P72, and the large-case 3G went in easy enough with it.

Hey John, what about the belt for running the smog pump without AC? That'd be a good one to have here too

My town car had the standard 2G internally regulated 65amp alternator. Maybe the parts guy was just looking up for the wrong model. Either way, the belt is on and 3G in, and thats all that matters.

I would like to add a bit of information for those with the 351W, with A/C still in place and a smog pump delete. I used a 60" belt and it fit well.

The alternator belt is separate from the a/c belt...
You would use the stock belt for that...

Using the stock belt for A/C and air pump would be way too long for just A/C. Looks like just using the A/C would interfere with the tension pulley so my just get one of the air pump eliminator pulley.
