smog pump removal / EGR vacuum question

I just removed my smog pump. Patched the exhaust holes, plugged the holes in the heads, got the shorty belt, etc.

One question still, and I've searched a bit but didn't find a definitive answer.

There is a green vacuum line that goes from the EGR valve to the little 4-hose vacuum line connector that mostly connects to smog pump stuff. From there it continues to a bracket on the passenger inner fender with several solenoid-looking items.

I bypassed the 4-hose connector and connected the EGR vacuum hose directly to the solenoid (the one that it ultimately connects to). I capped off the other side of the solenoid since it went to one of the removed smog lines.

It seems to run fine but I don't think this is right since there is now no vacuum pulling on the EGR valve. Where should I connect the EGR vacuum line?

One side of the EGR solenoid should have a red vacuum line from the manifold, the other goes out to the valve. Feel free to ditch all the rest of that plumbing over there, with its leaky tees and connectors and all that mess.
