I am having a problem with my car, and wondered if someone here could point me in the right direction...
When I drive it, if I am coasting, or just trying to maintain speed, it bucks, once every couple of seconds, randomly... (Another words, not that you could say the same time between the events... ) It runs like a champ when it is accelerating. The "bucking" seems like a dead miss, or like somone is taking the coil wire on and off, quickly, before the engine dies. I figured it needed a tuneup, so I did a complete tuneup, plugs, which had some wear, but not too much. Plug wires, found one that had gotten burned on the exhaust mainifold evidently, figured this was the source of the "miss" or what ever you want to call it. New cap, again, not too bad, but could stand changing, so I changed it out, along with the rotor button. When I test drove it, it seemed to run ok, at first, but when it warms up, it starts the bucking thing. I noticed on the way to work this morning the same thing.. for the first few blocks, it runs fine... then starts doing it. any help would be appreciated.. don't want to start the "change out parts" method to find the problem...
I am figuring:
Distributor ignition pick up acting up
Electonic ignition module (On side of the distributor)
coil
The distibutor and ignition module was changed out when we put the new engine in, about 3 years ago now...
The coil is original equipment
I don't think it is a fuel problem, since it would act like it is choking down, and this is not that....
Thanks for any ideas....
