If you mean if I'm going to put a new stereo in.. no--- it will remain stock... The IDIOT that had the car before me TRIED to install a trunk CD player... a stereo installer he wasn't!! He ran monster cables to the trunk but then cut the ends off when he couldn't figure out how to get the cable around the back seat,, then TAPED the connections back together... with bandage type tape!!! Then he used speaker wire for power cables to the trunk for the unit.... And taped all the connections again! I spent the first TWO days pulling all the old wiring out of the car!!! (It was a lot of fun tho!) Then when I took the dash apart, I found where he ran new wires up to the dash speakers... and put some cheesey little tweeters in the dash... (I mean CHEESEY!) So I had to resplice some new plugs on the wiring for the speakers, (he had cut them off for some reason) and put new speakers in the dash... And the same thing for the trunk speakers.... So I had to get the speaker wiring harness out of a wrecked LTD.... And rewire the trunk connections too....
It took me almost TWO weeks to track down the parts I needed And then re install all the CORRECT wiring... I also had to buy a new AM/FM Cassette radio... and the wood grain trim piece for it.... AND the ash tray, as he broke the original one to get it out... guess he never heard of a SCREWDRIVER..... It amazes me how people work on stuff,,, and rig stuff...

I have the face plate off yet so I can get to the brace bolt under the center of the dash, where it bolts to the transmission tunnel... I am going to put a diagonal brace there, for the shotgun mount... so i won't have to drill any holes... just loosen the bolt up, slip the brace in, and put the bolt back...

      Tom...

All I'll say, you never saw the original stereo install in my Towncar from the last owner. The speaker wires were run to the door by punching a hole in the boot and running it under the trim then across the cardboard-like under dash panel to the stereo. Speaker wires to the trunk ran up the side of the back seat, across the rear window and down through the 3rd brake light fixture. I have since re-wired it all, and its a lot nicer. Most important: no visible wires.

Awesome man. Glad my car doesnt need much work inside. In fact in needs a couple chrome pieces and a dash pad. The rest is perfect.

                      84---

Well, mine was a mess from the idiot that had the car before me.. My friend bought the car from the state... then sold it to a 16 year old kid... who promptly tried to make a hot rod out of it... but all he was good at was jury rigging EVERYTHING he tried to "upgrade"... So the ENTIRE interior had to come out, along with about 50 yards of wire! Well, the kid stopped paying his payments... so Tommy went over and repoed it... Then called me and asked me if I wanted it... since he knew I always liked the car.... MOST of what I have had to do so far is undoing all of the kids "work"...
