    Explorer computer?

Will this work? I might be able to get a 98 Explorer engine, and can probably get him to throw in the computer from the car too. But will it work?

Yes, but it'll require alot of work.

Okay. Is this expolorer engine going to bolt right in? Is it going to work with the Mk. 7 ECM? Will I need to modify anything other than turning the intake around?

Swap all the stuff on the front of the motor, put a distributor in, fuel rail, valve covers, coolant tubes, drill and tap the intake manifold for the air charge temp sensor, and a few other things...

You need to basically strip the motor down to the long block and use all of your CV sheet metal and timing cover/dampener, etc as was mentioned. It would be silly to not replace your lower intake gasket and put in a new roller chain also. An oil pump isn't the worst idea either.

Well, forget this guy...He want's me to just buy the block and heads for $550. I'll probably just stick with a regular Mustang engine. It would have only been worth it to spend almost all of my current moneys on it if it were a complete engine, minus accessories of course. Anyway, I should be able to get a Mustang engine cheap enough and throw some new gaskets and oil pump on and what not.

Thanks for the help though, guys.

Oh, and btw, the guy wasn't even willing to throw in the stock exhaust manifolds or the stock computer(before I knew i wouldnt even work) in the deal. Good luck selling those...

Those stock Exploder manifolds are worthless, at least in anything other than an Explorer, and they aren't much good there either. Mrlrd has a pic of them somewhere, but they truly are a mess.

Yeah, they are totally whack. I doubt they are much better than stock lopo manifolds.

I saw the pic of them and wondered what idiot had made those, then found out they came from FoMoCo lol

Well, Scott told me I couldn't use my current headers because of the angle of the spark plugs on the GT40P heads, so since I don't want to buy the Motorsport headers, I figured I'd temporarily use the stock crap. No worries now though...I'm not getting that engine anymore. I'm on the lookout for a decent engine now though, so if anyone comes across one in the Chicago area cheap..let me know.
