    Fueling issues

So def having a problem with my fuel system. Im thinking its the FPR but before I starting tearing in looking for any other ideas.
SO let me list whats going on:

    1. Hard starting...cranks maybe 15-25 sec before its starts. Sometimes sooner some times I have to try again

    2. Will randomly start sputtering esp when give gas after cruising above 60. Although it does do it some times starting from a stand still

    3. Everynow and then I can smell gas when I drive. Annoying smell

    4.Fuel pressure is about 25-28psi.

    Thanks,

fuel filter may need to be changed... check the fuel lines. If you're occasionally smelling fuel, you may have a rusted through line. Depending on what car this is, it may be in different locations, but the most common one is just in front of the driver door under the car. Depending on what car, there may be other issues as well.

yeah... check for leaks in the fuel line. May have rusted through somewhere.

25-28 is low. Pull the vacuum line off the FPR and see if gas comes out. You should also see about a 10 psi increase with the vac line off. The FPR seldom fails, but when it does, often the diaphragm pops and it bleeds fuel through the vacuum line. Also, see how long it holds pressure after you shut the motor off. It should hold for several hours. If it bleeds down within a few minutes, either there is a leak in one of the injectors, or the check valve inside the fuel pump has failed. Also worth noting how fast the pressure comes up. It should hit normal run pressure in the 2 seconds or so the pump primes when you turn the key on. If it does not, thats another symptom of the pump dying or a restriction at the fuel filter.

gassy smell is usually a leaky line or something related to the evap system. If the charcoal can under the battery is busted open, or if the lines going to/from it are in really bad shape, it will smell like gas. One goes to the motor, the other meets a steel line roughly in the center of the wheel area on the inside of the frame, passenger side.

It may just be the pump has gone TU. Does it sound either really really quiet, or excessively loud? They seem to die either way, but super quiet is a little more common.
