'99 cop car in j/y.... questions

It looks like a cop car, no spotlight, interior is already ripped up, no clues there, but you can see where the popo interceptor emblem was... look like cop steelies....

How do I determine if it really was a cop car?

I want the spindles/brakes from it. No jacks allowed in the yard.....

    I want the brake deal.

If the shocks are connected, the spring can't pop out can it? So if I have them lift it up, I can remove the spindle safely can't I?

What other parts are desirable for my box wagons? sway bars? steering box?

There is also a car I can pick the uca's from, how can they be harvested w/o a jack?

    Thanks....

Don't matter if it was or not. That would all work for you. Shocks should hold springs in place, but be careful none the less. Steering box would be an improvement over stock.

Unbolt balljoint from control arm, then unbolt control arm from frame.

Front swaybar - don't need it

Rear swaybar - probably work good if you like fabbing mounts for an endlink-type bar. (stock Box rear swaybars don't use endlinks, they bolt directly to the LCAs)

DOH! Just went out & pulled a wheel, the shock is NOT attached to the UCA!

you can just unbolt the uppers and it will come apart. Honestly though, for your car you want 92-94 upper arms if you can find them. They already have the shaft in there to bolt to the box frame. The arm itself is the same. You can swap your stock upper arm shaft into later model arms, but its extra work for no benefit.

If you're going big brakes, you can make the police front bar work if you use the later endlinks. I dont know if its any real advantage. the later endlinks seem to fail more often, and they are more expensive. The bar size is pretty comparable.

As far as finding out if it was a police package, look at the VIN. If it is a police model it will have P71 in it.

Gotcha, there is another car there that I plan on acquiring the uca's from.

I can also utilize the rear discs, calipers hard lines & brackets correct?

If so, Is the stock mc up to it?

Prop valve need to be changed?

                  Thanks

Just threw on the rear disc rear, and changed nothing else. I used ABS hoses, and tied them into the stock brake lines, with the correct metric bubble flares. The master cylinder will be fine for rear brakes. Unless you're changing the master cylinder and such, you don't have to mess with anything. Grab the parking brake cables a long length, up to the front of the parts car.
