Well, only after having her back for week, she has shit the bed yet again, and is sitting on the highway refusing to start. On yesterday, she started to act like she wasn't getting fuel nor power when I would try to accelerate. Didn' actually start dying until later on last night. Pinging and knocking really bad from the engine, and dying @ idle, if i didnt have my foot on the brake and gas. OTW to work this am, she got worse, spitting and sputtering and continued to die. So I pull over, pop the hood and its smoking and something smells like its burning. Luckily, I make it to work, where she dies going in reverse. Let's see if I can describe the noise......think of a movie or tv show if you will. The sound the engine makes as its dying or trying to die, like it cuts out? It's like i've read on here before where another driver was having a similar issue? I come out of work, jump in and try to go, she won't start. She will just sit there and turn and turn but no start. Tried it a few minutes later, fired right up, got a mile or so from work. and refused to accelerate @ all. She will coast fine, just dont expect much more. So she sits........ Over the past few months, you guys have been great in helping me with her in diagnosing possible issues. But this is the first time she's left me stranded, the other stuff i dealt with. Any ideas?

check plugs and wires first to make sure nothing came loose (btdt). I'm hesitant to say head gasket yet. Doesn't sound like you drive far enough for it to get hot. check the hose to the MAP sensor (little black box with a vacuum hose and 3-wire plug just passenger side of the intake mounted on the upper most part of the firewall). If that hose has a crack in it or is disconnected... it WILL run like shit.

after talking on the phone, it sounds to me like an ignition issue (faulty TFI, pick up or coil) but I am not ruling out a wiring or relay issue or a faulty fuel pump.

Last I heard he got the car back to his place, but not before it was vandalized. somebody broke one of the front windows, rummaged through the car, stole the 6x9 speakers that were mounted in the back, popped the hood and ripped the battery out. Not a good time to have broken window, we are supposed to get lots of rain, starting monday, from tropical depression that hit the gulf coast.2003 Town Car Signature - 3.27 RAR, Dual exhaust and J-mod - SOLD 9/2011
