1990 Town Car Header Pics - Performance Question

Just got back from the junkyard, and I found a 1990 Town Car with the tubular-style exhaust.

Since I had never seen them in person, or in any picture, here y'go!

Now, having seen one, while they are tubular (made from tubing), they certainly are NOT "headers". They utilize a common "log" design, as opposed to four individual tubes which mate to a collector.

The design doesn't in any way scream "performance" over the standard cast-iron design.

Does anybody actually have a set of these bolted up - and if so, what performance change did you experience? Based on their design, I wouldn't experience a benefit that is comparable to a Stock Mustang manifold. But, I realize that looks can be deceiving . . . !

So - does anybody have any experience with both - this style, and a "true" Mustang stock header?

I'm in Nebraska - home of the football team that "used to be".

I'm willing to help folks out - if seriously interested. The yard where these pictures were taken isn't cheap - but I could get prices if interested.

they might not flow much better than the manifolds but they would cut about 40 lbs. off the front of the car.

That's a point that I did not consider!

Anybody got a guess on what a set should be worth.

The yard wanted $75, which seems too high.

Too damn high, maybe $40 if I was feeling generous at the time.

$75 for those is nuts. I'll agree with Blaze, maybe $20 each tops. The yard I go to charges $15 each for exhaust manifolds. The flow is probably marginally better than iron, but the weight savings is a definite plus. Those iron manifolds are heavy suckers.

                forget that yard!

Scott helped me pull mine (not installed yet) from a yard that wanted $15 each.

sounds like the yards around here If I would have known anyone was interested in those I would have snagged them off the 90 towncar I got my engine from.
