If I recall, the two hollow halves grip a portion of the pulley, while the center threaded rod pushes down on the pump shaft, forcing the pulley off.
I was told it was not the best idea, but I had to use an impact tool. Mine was so stuck, there was NO way I was going to be able to hold the pulley still with enough torque to break it free. An impact wrench made it a cinch.
yup... thread the unit into the pulley and then crank down on the center part with a breakover bar. leave the bracket in the car for this or you'll need a vice attached to something very heavy.
you need to go rent a power steering pulley puller/installer......instructions are on the lid of the box.......that installer that comes with the pump is junk, the bolt is not hardened, half the time it snaps off halfway thru pulley install, just go rent the kit free from autozone

i made 15 custom power steering pulley's in machine shop last year on the cnc and they work great.

Meh, if I can figure it out, you probably can! Biggest techless tip is not to get paint in the pulley's spindle hole before reinstalling - took me quite a few minutes of cursing to figure out why it wouldn't go all the way on.
But right, the hard part IIRC was assembling the tool to remove the old pulley. Referencing the pic below, the split-grabbyring-inside-a-shell doodad at the lower right grabs the nub on your pulley, and you finagle the bolt thing to press against the pulley shaft and yank the pulley off. I think the thing at the lower right is a collared nut that you stick through the shell arrangement to pull it up the bolt thingy?
Then to install you choose the adapter that threads into the hole in the middle of your shaft and (IIRC) select a bearing collar (bottom, second from right) that presses on the pulley while you tighten the collared nut thing against it to press the pulley on. Though I seem to recall using a different bearing-coller dealey than looked obvious ... hard to remember for sure, it having been over 5 years ago.

yeah for some reason I can't post attachments but I figure it out but I ran in to a wired problem I put a new water pump on like a mouth or more ago no leaking but when I start to get the pully off from the power steering pump out the water pump is leaking can anyone explain why is it
Pull your water pump back off and reseal everything with RTV, including the back of the pump to the pump housing. Not doing so tends to cause leaks.
If attachments are confuzzling you, can you at least link us to a picture of a pulley-puller kit similar to what you've rented? Though I'd be surprised if any kit worked in a manner substantially different than what I described .....

More or less the same, then. So what's your difficulty? Are you having trouble getting the split ring thingy installed in order to get the old pulley off? The bolt thing you have assembled with it is what presses on the shaft to get the pulley off; the split ring engages both the little collar in the middle of the pulley and the collar on the nut thing shown. Then when you turn the bolt clockwise against the pump shaft, the pulley stays with the nut part and works its way off.
