Does anyone know what the stock compression ratio is? How much hp could I pick up if I bumped the ratio to 11.0:1? Could I get away with 93 octane or do I need something higher?

11:1 compression would mean about 10 deg of base timing and require at least 100 octane gas also very carefull selection of cam heads and pistons to prevent piston to valve contacthttp://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

you probably want to make sure you build a nice strong bottom end if you're running that level of compression. Also good quality head bolts and gaskets are a must.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

you wont get 11:1 without new pistons. If you tried decking your block and heads to get near 10:1 you'd more than likely have issues with your intake not matching up

You have to match all your components. With the correct cam and with aluminum heads, you can possibly run 93 on the street. The gain from compression alone is ~4% per point. So going from 9:1 to 11:1, you'd gain ~8%, or ~20 hp on a stock HO. Assuming you could fuel it, which you basically couldn't. Add the right cam and heads (and other parts) and you'll get a hell of a lot more than 20 hp....FOR SALE: 89 Grand Marquis GS HO.
