    leave it to me...

...to take a simple thing such as installing a shift kit, and end up with possibly a dead transmission. i put in my transgo shift kit, did everything correctly, adjusted the tv cable like it said... i really did everything JUST as it says and the only problem i had was a stuck accm valve, but i finally got it out. anyway i take it for a road test tonight and i notice that it takes very very long to shift into 2nd. it would only shift into 2nd if i either floored it WOT at about 30 MPH or if when it started revving extremely high and wouldnt shift, let off the gas a little then hit it again real quick. after 2nd, 3rd came without any problems. so i come back home to run in and get some money so i could go get something to eat. i just left the car on in the driveway while i ran in. i come back out and pull onto the road and start accelerating... 10 mph... 20 mph... 30 mph... engine revving way too high... come on SHIFT :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: and it never shifted into 2nd. i could floor it and it would just rev and rev and go faster but still no shift. i could let off and hit it again, still no shift. as the engine raced in first gear and it got so high revving it would make this AWFUL squeeling sound. so i drove it back home with a top speed of 30 MPH of course on a busy 55 MPH road with a long line behind me of people honking. what have i done...? i really hope theres a way to fix this... and im still hungry dammit :chainsaw:

New trans will fix it... Sorry to hear. I'd say its a governor problem, but I think it's worse than that.

It sounds like the TV Pressure is way too high.

its also possible the fluid was over filled, cause the fluid to foam and introduced air into the front pump.

I would flush the fluid, re-check your TC pressure and try again.

Make sure that the gear selector is alighend with the notches on the selector plate in the tranny. Sounds like even though you have it in D, you may actually have the tranny in 1.

Did you take the valve body off the trans? If so did you torque the body back down in the correct order?

Take the valve body back out and double check everything. I had problems when road testing mine, turned out I had a check ball in the wrong place. Put it in the right spot and all was well.

well thanks for all the suggestions guys but UNFORTUNATLY the manager here at the trailor park threw a hissy fit over my car being out there on jack stands so he raised the rent 10% and told me that if i even jacked it up again we were outta here so i took it up to this transmission place right down the road and they took a look at it. the guy called me today and told me that they took the trans pan off and the fluid was really dirty and there was alot of burnt fluid stuck to the pan. how this happened i dont have a clue. then he told me some of the valves in the valve body were stuck. i asked him if the 1-2 valve was one of them and he said yes! so he said he could get the stuck ones un stuck and clean out the pan and put some new fluid in it but that he doesnt garuntee that will solve my problem!!! i hope he was only saying that to cover himself in case there was something else wrong with the tranny, but it seems to me that the valves being stuck would probably be the reason it wasnt shifting... anyway ill find out when i get the car tomorrow, hopefully thats all that was wrong with it and there isnt anything major thats happened to it.

Burned fluid stuck to the pan? Doesn't sound right to me. Sounds like clutch material to me.

I have to agree with this. It does sound like some burnt cluches, however with the way 2nd gear is applied you may still be able to drive it.

ok i got her back today and all seems to be fine now. the guy up at the shop told me that hes not gonna garuntee anything on it. he said it might last a day, it might last forever. he told me the valve body was really dirty so they got the valves unstuck and cleaned it out real good and thats all they could really do with it... it sux to not even know if my tranny is gonna last at all... now im too scared ill kill it if i romp on her anymore the shift feels a litte bit different than b4 but i cant really describe it.

so lets add this all up here...
40$ for the transgo shift kit
50$ worth of wasted tranny fluid that i put in only to have drained back out
10$ for a new filter and gasket
30$ (every month) increase on the lot rent cuz of the :gay: manager here
20$ of gas to use my parents car to get to work for a couple days
195.29$ to have my fluid flushed and valve body serviced
                      which comes to... 345.29$

LOL has anybody spent such a huge amount of money on such a SIMPLE thing!?!?! and man i aint rich here, that 345$ was my entire months savings from work. now i got no money and a car that i dont trust!!!!!! driving isnt even worth it if you cant FLOOR it :chainsaw:
