yes i took apart the motor i got from john sexton and am going to rebuild it from the ground up. i am only doing this once so i am putting max effort into this project. while i gather all the parts together i will be driving with the cfi motor until then. for a cfi it does haul ass even when i had vicky's old motor in the trunk.

you could probably get a donor engine pretty cheap, and put all of the EFI goodies ontop of your freshly machined block.

my parents wouldn't fucking let me do that tried but they said no. i am lucky enough that i was able to get a engine already taken out of a car for me. my fucking parents really piss me off. plus i will learn more if i do this rebuild myself it is something i never did. i can thank my fucking parents for not allowing me to pull a motor(which i would have done in the first place). fucking hate there decisions sometimes but i have to listen to them.

$1500 is an expensive engine swap?

I suggest everyone thinks before they hit the submit button. Some people are fine with throwing in an already running engine. Some want to take an engine apart and make it better. In this case the engine was done from the beginning so I see no problem in going over it like Matt is doing. His money and I see no problem spending it the way he wants. Just ease up and think before some of you speak.

did not intend to be offensive or anything, i do commend the whole idea of rebuilding from scratch, its a learning process is all.

I spent about that much in the engine alone. I spent about another 600 on parts to replace the hoses, belts, and the radiator and all of the other shit too!

Doing it the right way (again this is different for people) means spending money.

I'd love to swap the engine out of my 88... with something in the $5000 equivalent range

something forged with more displacement... then take a TT setup on it

                            *dreams some more*

                            *wakes up*

doing stuff right can be more 'spensive depending on how deep you go. one thing about going through the entire engine like this... you know it'll work.

What do you have in mind slymer? Link to a built engine? I have no problem dropping that kind of money on a new engine because I know it is all NEW.

                                something like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MLL-BP3474CTC

granted... it's just the long block... but the intake stuff would be to fit the turbo setup and the accessories would be from the car already and then add the water pump and ignition of choice.
