    stupid PCV question

You don't need to use the little elbow that comes with the PCV valve, do you? I don't see why you would but I thought I'd ask you guys given the fact that I can wire a distributor backwards and not notice.

not on your SEFI engine. that elbo is intended for the older carbed and CFI engines that have the PCV valve it the rocker cover oil cap.

we can just cap off the second hole?
I did my pcv valve over the summer, but actually now I can't remember what I did... hope it's not been blowing oil all this time

What did another poster mean by the "pcv trifecta"? It's just that one valve, right? Or are there two other components to address?

Take it off the valve. The trifecta, I would imagine would be the PCV valve, the PCV screen and the PCV grommet. All should be replaced

Odd, none of the motorcraft filters I've bought to date have come packed with the 90º elbow. Just a straight pcv valve in a sealed bag.

The generic ones you get from Fram at Wal-Mart have the elbow.

Last one I used had the elbow as part of the valve, couldn't remove it. I can't remember what brand it was though.

The one I picked up at Carquest was made with the 90. I actually didn't try to remove it...I was replacing the rubber hose anyway and had a 90 to go down to the factory configured valve. I just rotated it to line up to the Carquest valve.

Pulled off of the one i used on my car. I'm not dealing with any more plastic than i need to.
In an unrelated note, that pcv valve is used on aeros too and uses both fittings.
