Ok, today over lunch I pulled the EGR valve back off (the welded up one) and found the pintle wasn't sealing completely. Checked the original EGR valve and the pintle was sealing and the diaphram was holding vacuum so I put it back on. No change. Tested the vacuum line from the solenoid to the EGR valve - held vacuum. Tried to put vacuum on the vacuum solenoid and it wouldn't hold any so I grabbed one from the local junkyard. Got home tonight and compared the operation of the solenoids and both seemed to check the same...then I noticed very little vacuum getting TO the solenoid. Started looking and found a break in the hard line from the intake to the solenoid. It was inside the loom so it was lined up enough the EGR valve was operating...just not as much as it should have been. I replaced that vacuum line and no more code 34 or 13. I do still have the 41/91 though.
I was going to start narrowing down sources of vacuum leaks so I unplugged the vacuum tree on the firewall...left only the PCV, MAP sensor, and fuel pressure regulator lines...retested...and still getting the 41/91. So...I guess I'm not done yet. The car has a new fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, and filter so no guesses on where my problem is. I don't have a pressure tester so I might have to pick one up.
