Do you use something to stick the gasket on to the cover first and then install it as a unit? It'll be felpro permadry gaskets

set them in place, and attach the valve covers... no need for adhesives or liquid gasket... make sure surfaces are cleaned off on covers and heads...

          thanks!

is there a particular bolt torquing sequence for valve covers? I've also heard 10 inch pounds and 10 foot pounds for the bolts...10 ft is as low as my torque wrench goes.

thats one of thos things that i use a small rachet for snug them down, then an extra slight turn and it should be good. , if you crush the valve cover its too tight, usually i go from middle to outside.

maybe a quarter turn after it hits the gasket and firms up, probably less especially with stamped steel covers. If you're having trouble keeping the gaskets lined up, try a dab of black or blue Permatex sealant (near the JB weld and stuff at Canadian Tire or other parts stores) on the head top right in the top and bottom in the middle. Place the gasket on top of freshly laid little dabs of sealant, press down lightly, and allow to dry. That'll give you at least some room for error as far as bumping the gasket with the valve cover.
