This is why I like to use ECMs from the same year car that I am doing the swap on. for example, my 89 CV got an ECM from 89 mark 7 when I did the HO conversion.

so when the scan tool asks for what year, you can say its an 89 (or what ever year the car and ECM are) you also want to to select the VIN code for an HO engine, which in most cases will be "E"

          They're all HO.
LSCs of earlier years were also HO iirc....

88-92 were all HO, E7 heads, 225 hp
86-87 LSC only was HO, E6 heads, 200hp.
84-85 were not HO, and they were CFI.

and its a D9S. If you get VSS related codes, and you have a funny bog off-idle, tie in the VSS signal and it should fix the issue. You'll need to add the pins to the ECM connector.

                          e9 signifies a 1989 part number not an '88
                          Silly ford fuel injection.

Do they still have the Mark VII Mass Air Computer pin out too?

The D9S program code did exist in 88 tho, but no E9 part number on it. I had one in my Towncar at one point, and I had pulled it from an 88 Bill Blass. The other one you see sometimes is DX3. Not a bleeding clue what the difference is between the two, but it exists.
