Ford 1980-89 Master Parts Catalog Download (Dial Up No-No)

Credit goes to Cadfan64 for giving me the cd. It contains a part number for almost every part imaginable, the proper bolt sizes for everything, and diagrams on how things are assembled. These files are about 200MB each so its going to be a lengthy download. Gadget is supposed to help me with hosting these so they don't have to be downloaded to be viewed, but until then, here are the links.

    Part 1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QR6XLG36
    Part 2 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NJW5HKXE
    Part 3 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FH5QX6NP

Note: The number of pages in these files is close to 14,000.

He is a member on here, and I would say by far the member who I am closest friends with. He had an 86 Grand Marq, but he had to sell it. When he did he gave me all of his spare parts. The Master parts catalog was among them. No idea where he got it though.

humor from the catalog. Looking at a random page of wiring harnesses. It says, and I quote "If not listed below, improvise".

still trying to figure out how to find anything in here. Its broken down into sections, but the index doesn't reference the sections that I can tell.

LOL...don't hate me for saying this, but after 25 years of using GM parts catalogs, the Ford one is confusing as heck...but the Ford guys feel the opposite! I think this was a 1992 reprint so some things especially trim items are not going to be there. Also remember that the part numbers listed may have been superceded..some more than once, but it's a good place to start. BTW panthers are listed as A(Crown Vics), MA (Grand Marquis) and DA (TC).

It's not that bad once you get used to it. Don't do page by page. You'll get no where.

I've figured out the first one pretty good. It gives you directions on the second page or something.

Start in the tab that says alpha index chassis parts. Find your part. For example Speedometer. I want the PN for the Merc PI speedo. So I find Speedometer in the Alpha Index, which gives me the group number 17255.

Now it's time to use the sections. The sections go by the first two numbers (in four digit group numbers). Check out section 170 in this case. Now it's a matter of scrolling down to find the 17255 group number. Then you've have speedos. They even list two canadian versions of the Merc PI speedo, one is a 135mph, the other 140.

It's a start. It's pretty confusing if you just open it. Haven't even gotten into the other ones yet.

                    Thanks for making those available.

I'm glad work has a good connection (averaged 2000k/sec for all three), I don't even want to speculate how long it would have taken at home.

If you ever get a chance to look at the paper versions, do so, easier to learn how to navigate Fords odd ball system. PDF is a bit tougher since you can't stick a finger in all the places you need to flip back and forth between.

                    Alex.

ok, it looks like the one I was looking over was the accessory catalog, which is just confusing as shit. I paged through one of the others and found all the trim stuff for the Towncar. That stuff was broken down by year and model. The other one just had a bunch of sections and I couldn't figure out what meant what.

In general, For the text part, you 1st need to determine what you need to look up and where to find it. Which is at the begging of the book. Using tiggies example, speedometers.

I don't have the pdf at home yet to reference, so I'm using an older paper parts manual as my reference for numbers, so don't get cornfuseled over it if it doesn't match up, but the process is the same.

Anyway, before you use the alphabetic list, begin your search using the "GROUP NUMBERS and RELATED PART NAMES and CATALOG SECTIONS" list. Once you do this and get a feel for how this thing works, use the alphabetical list. This list is in numerical sequence, so you'll need to thumb through looking for what you want.

Speedometers are in group range 17000-17399 along with jacks. Now you have the section number for the specific speedometer entry: Section 170.

Start flipping the pages looking at the top corner. You will see a section page number AND you will see "Section 170". Now, heres why this is a PITA, those page numbers start back at 1 in each section, they are not the page of the entire book. Think of it this way: this parts catalog is a bunch of tiny page books bound together (some pages may be only 1 page long, others many multiples--which is why you need to find section 170 first).

Now, start at page 1 of Section 170. Start thumbing through the list until you get to speedometer. Which is headered by "17255".

Look through that section for the car (A=ford) and year.
                        1988 Ford 140mph speedo is E8AZ 17255-C
Or a little further down, E8AZ-17255-E for one with a tripminder.

If you start with the alphabetical list, it shows speedometers as being 17225. Now you need to find what section 17225 is in... Back to our first list. Now, you just scroll through section 170 until you see the bundle of 17225 part numbers.

Similar sort of deal for the graphical section. Find what section it belongs to, start going through the section until you find what you need AND the correct car model.

A wheel is easy, Section 10. Group 1003.
Look for a 1983 Grand Marquis turbine.
Goto page 1 of section 10. Start looking from the beginning. Hey, waddaya know, first thing.
So A and MA together, Down to 1983, looking for a "tsa" (turbine styled aluminum wheel) p/n e0ly-1007-E. Came with p205/75R 15x6.5" 5-4 1/2. 4 needed.

Once you start looking for stuff it'll get easier, and you can skip some of the initial looking up to get to the location you need.

                        Alex.
