Please let us know if things are working or not. This is still somewhat a work in progress so don't be too surprised if things magically appear from one visit to the next.
I cant hardly rember. It's been awhile since I have removed one. But it seems like I remember putting the fan back on it though. I think you need to remove that pulley. I cant say for sure.
No. I have in mind to take it off so I can paint it. I may not disturb it though just since it is with the water pump and all. I don't want to cause a leak.
That bracket does come off without disturbing the water pump, as long as the first nuts come free from the stud. Being in the rust belt you might have trouble...
Let them soak in PB blaster and apply a little heat if you can. Once you get the belt off, you should have enough room to get in with a ratchet or at least a wrench.
If you look back behind the bracket, you will see two hex flanges the bracketry rests against, but i think they are two thin and sandwiched enough that you can't get a regular open end wrench on them (to hold them still while you turn the nuts)
