    brake swap parts

Here's the most recent acquisitions in parts for the up coming susp rebuild/brake swap with scott

    1 Moog idler arm = 32.50 shipped
    4x ball joints (2 upper, 2 lower) = 75.76 shipped
1 FRPP Trak-Lok rebuild kit -and-
    1 FRPP 8.8" gear install kit = 135.99 shipped
1 set Performance Friction Carbon Metallic rear pads = 24.99 shipped
    1 B&M line lock = 78.90 shipped

Not pictured (ie., stashed deep in the closet and im too lazy to dig it out right now): 4 tierod ends, 98-02 spindles, calipers + brackets, brake hoses, springs (all from same car on ebay)

^^ + money to Scott for cheap(er) parts to finish up whats needed for the swap= nearly $900. Some isnt needed, but since the rear end is apart and we'll have the time, its getting 3.73's installed, trak-lok rebuilt, and front suspension rebuilt. When he gets here with the rest of my goodies, I'll take pics of everything needed for a complete 98-02 front brake/93 TownCar rear disc conversion

RIP Jason P Harril, we'll miss ya bro

You can save your two best existing trac loc frictions and do the alternate stacking pattern to get an extra friction per side. I put the F150 S spring in mine when I rebuilt it. It runs about $15 and is part # F3TZ-4214-A

Why not run 3.90s or 4.10s? Not much of a jump from 3.55 to 3.73.

Scott was advising against it fron tthe longer wheelsbase and driveshaft being more succeptible to vibration issues. I'm not going to drive it much as it is, but anywhere i take it around here will be highway driving. I still want to be able to take it on the interstate to racing events so I want to keep some semblance of mileage

I'd still need to find some local guys to trade in a week anyways. The 3.73's were cheap, and it will be all apart for the rear disc swap so we'll install em since i have em sitting around instead of reusing the old high mileage gears.

Is the motor almost done yet?

Can you get an aluminum driveshaft for your town car from the wreckers?

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing the results.

Just my experience with a non panther car. I thought there was a massive difference between the 3.27 gear and the 3.73 gear on my stang, but the ET clock said differently. 13.9s@98 for both gearsets. You are probably right that on a heavier car, the difference between 3.55 and 3.73 is more noticable. My combo gained a couple tenths going from 2.73 to 3.27.
