I have no scope... will a dmm on AC alone give any indication?
The local guy Steve's vic's lights pulse at idle... about twice a second... idle charge voltage is fine (100amp ex-reg)

DMM on AC will average out. It will not show spikes. as for pulsing lights... that usually has more to do with a nearly dead battery. I know my Topaz did that when I was having to jump it one day to get anywhere.

an analog meter will show you goofy transients like that, a digital is nearly worthless for trying to watch that stuff. Digitals are good for most things, and most people would argue they are superior but there are some cases where there is no substitute for a mechanical meter. I own both just in case I need to have one or the other for something. I also have a VTVM and a scope, but most of the world does not need that for automotive electrical diagnostic work.

I had the pulsing lights on my truck after replacing the alternator. replaced it again, problem went away. On fords, a bad ground to the voltage reg, or a poor connection on the battery sense wire can do it.

Update for those who care to know... 3 years on and the ECM and O'reilly auto parts special TFI module are still trucking along just fine. I'm gessing the surge from the cap shorting out in the ECM damaged the original TFI without killing it completely. Then running with the replacement ECM finally killed it off.

Now I'm looking at potentially sticking 19# injectors on and tuning the SD computer using a quarterhorse (if that's even possible without converting to mass air - the more I read, the less possible it seems).

No support for the computer unfortunately.

Why do you need to run 19# injectors? A few different people (including myself) have done a full HO swap minus the cam and injectors, and the lopo computer never seemed bothered.

just for the added grunt at the shift points... the trucks run pretty damn good with the lopo cam and 19# on a batch-fire system... so SEFI should be able to get better mileage out of the same basic idea (or so I would think). But if there's no support for the SD computers other than the 86/87 mustangs (found their codes listed) then BAH!

again... Ford doesn't build anything except mustangs and trucks.
