    Cleaning 5.0 water passages

Started taking inventory of things to prep and get for my 5.0 HO i'm swapping ready and noticed a scale deposit in one of water passages on one cyl. head. It blocks about 40% of the passage. Besides scrapping the large deposit out, is there any way of cleaning the rest of the passages? If so what would you use.

Muriatic acid ought to do it, though you'll want to be careful with that since it will eat gaskets. If the engine isn't assembled, it should be OK but if you'll need to rinse it out very well, and the water will flash rust surfaces.
