I think the top of the CFI unit it somewhat different than a carb top. Not sure if that will work or not. Believe it or not, you'll have better performance results from the stocker as long as the cold air tube is still present and hooked up. all he is referring to is the air intake from the top of the core support leading to air cleaner...you know the stock air intake. That thing gets nice cool air outside of the engine bay.~David~

I actually had a edelbrock breather on my 84 Grand Marquis. I cant remember the size but it was kinda big. Had a thick tall air filter. But it worked fine on it. I couldnt tell a difference. I also had the crhome valve covers as well.

cfi units are about a quarter inch bigger. Stuff for a carb wont directly fit. I had one on but i had to hack it up to make it fit.

I believe it's the hose coming out of the passenger side valve cover, right near the vacuum nipple you showed me yesterday
If you follow it up to the air cleaner and take the top off, there is the stock breather.

are you going for looks or performance? if performance keep the stock assembly and install a k&N filter. make sure your pcv valve is good before going to an open style air cleaner. I ran one for a little while and my crankcase pressured up and caused the gaskets on the intake manifold to leak, went back to stock the leak wasnt as bad but the damage was done to the gaskets so i had to replace them.
