Gutting a 1990 Lincoln for parts

I have a 1989 MGM and a 1990 Lincoln Mark VII. The idea is to remove anything and everything of use from the Mark VII. [Body is rusted around trunk]

    The questions are;
    1) Where can I find out what is of use?
    2) Do I pull the engine (41,000 miles original)?
    3) Do I pull the transmission?
    4) Anything else major to pull?

I bought a 1989 Mercury Car Shop Manual and Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting manual this week.

If this is wrong spot to post please move me.
    Thanks,

    #2
save the engine, the catted h pipe, the engine computer, the trac lock unit if it has one, the wheels.

the transmission is also an aod, but lincolns have a longer tail shaft.

1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature. Stock for now
1989 Ford F-250 4x4 much much more to come, sefi converted so far.
1986 Toyota pickup with LSC wheels and 225/60/16 tires.
2008 Hyundai Elantra future Revcon toad
1987 TriBurner and 1986 Alaska stokers keeping me warm. (and some pesky oil heat)

please be patient, rebuilding an empire!

Yes Lincoln Mark VII LSC well decked out dark blue interior. Most of it in good shape. Air suspension leaks plus rusting unibody and poor mpg so decision is take stuff off then scrap.

save the ABS unit, they're of some value to Mark VII owners.

                  Andy,
Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Lots of reading to do now.

                  Scott and Gaget73,
If you need something off it please let me know. You give so much to this board.

                  Others,
Willing to walk the yards here in So Cal collecting certain parts. Simply need to understand what I am looking for. Obviously it will be after this puppy is dealt with.

                  Picture Seekers,
Yes I will snap shots as things go.

Actually I do need something. If its an LSC and the inside door trim doesn't have raised chrome strips, I could use the piece of trim that goes around the seat controls. Mine is all screwed up from being taken apart too many times and it won't stay on the door anymore.

Thats what I need, just the driver's side though. Let me know what I owe you. I can never find those up here. People harvest the door panels before I get to them usually.

If the Mark VII has a trunk muncher it can be adapted to a box fairly easily.

Save the fog lights if they're still there too. I don't think they are in current production anywhere. They're kind of crappy as fog lights, but they're correct for the LSC, TurboCoupe, and I think optional on some Mustangs.

If the headlights are nice and clear, save those too. Again with the no longer in production.

Just a thought, might want to post this on thelincolnmarkviiclub.org or lincolnsonline.com in case people have parts requests, or just strip the thing entirely and ebay all the bits and pieces.
