    Ignition stuff

I am gonna be doing a cap and rotor and plug wires for the 87, but there are some things I am not clear on. First I have seen guys running these, but I just wanna make sure will this cap and rotor work on my Vic?? Cap Rotor

And as for the plug wires, the mm doesnt really matter with a stock lopo motor does it??

Cap yes, rotor maybe. Pull your cap off and see what it looks like. There are two different Ford rotors. The less common one looks like the one you picked, the other one is sort of batwing looking.

For whatever its worth, the MSD cap I had corroded quickly. I was not impressed with it's durability at all, especially considering the price. The last set I bought were brass terminal Napa Premium ignition parts, and they seem to be holding up better for less money. They also don't clash with my blue and grey engine paint scheme.

Wire size isn't critical, but you want good quality wires. Stock is 8mm, and I wouldn't downsize from that. I have a set of Taylor SpiroPro wires on the Towncar and they're quite nice, but not real cheap. I have Belden on the Mark VII and they're working OK for me, but I've seen that same wire set fail horribly on a CFI car. I've used Ford Racing wires with good success, and they're fairly inexpensive. Just don't buy the cheap of the cheap wires, they suck.

MSD isn't worth the money. Just go down to your local parts store and get cap/rotor with brass terminals, and a premium wireset. Ford racing wires are the way to go.
