    '91 ignition switch?

Regarding the '91 GM: Sometimes when I shut the car off and pull the key out of the ignition, I am still able to turn the cylinder freely. Would this be faulty lock cylinder or faulty ignition switch?

Do you know if it's possible to get a new lock cylinder matched to the original key? I ask 'cause the '91 ignition key is also the door key.

Also, does the '91 lock cylinder come out by pushing that pin in like the older models? Do I have to pull any of that plastic around the column?

I dunno about the rekeying. I think it's the same pulling it out. Might have to pull the plastic off to get to it.

Yes, you can get it re-keyed... get an aftermarket ignition lock set from Advance.. take it to a local locksmith, and have them re key it... it cost me $10.00 for the re-key on mine, and he even put it in the car for me.

There is a small hole directly under the ignition switch on the column.. you put a ice pick in the hole, push up, and the whole lock set comes out... Of course, you have to have your key in it to get it to release... and I can't remember if it has to be in park or what gear.... Thats why when he offered to install it.. I said yes, go ahead!!!
Took him about 20 minutes total time.... Tom...

Mine is starting to get where the key jams in the lock until I turn the ignition a few times.

Key must be in the lock and turned forward to get the pin to depress. Plastic needs to come off the column most likely.

I had to replace one of the door locks in mine and ended up getting a whole lock set from a junkyard car so I could retain the matching keys.
