This has happened twice to me. I'll be at a low speed, and I'll push the gas to go, and literally nothing happens, then all of the sudden about 2 seconds later the car wakes up and goes. Is this an engine or trans issue? And what specifically is it?

Sounds like a dead accelerator pump in the carb. Look down the throat of the carb with the engine off, and open the throttle. If you don't see two streams of fuel squirting as you open the throttle, thats your problem. Time for a carb rebuild if thats whats going on.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

That was 3 years ago. Has it been sitting? Those rubber diaphragms dry out and fail. The squirters also clog with dirt.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Or, start a new thread specific to your issue. Different can of worms entirely.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
