It's not sticking when it's open, it seems like the pedal needs a bit of extra force to push down, but once it's pushed it's the same as it's always been. It's not possible to ease into the throttle, you need to push down harder to get the pedal moving and once the pedal moves you've got too much force on it so it will jump forward a bit from idle. It doesn't happen all the time and hasn't been a huge problem but I can imagine it would only get worse.

Mine will do that when I first start it. After the first push it will work fine until I turn it off an it sits for a while. turn the throttle stop screw half/full turn and then check your pedal.. if it doesnt make a difference turn it right back to where it was.

If someone backed the screw out too far, this is what happens, and its the reason that it should not be used to set the idle. Turning it in a smidge to see if it helps is a good idea.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Will try it. It comes and goes so I will have to drive like that for a bit...will having the screw set too far in hurt anything if that's not actually my problem? Is there a way to figure out the ideal position for the idle screw (like the tv cable adjusment)Last edited by 1990LTD; 04-22-2010, 10:21 PM.sigpic

my ideal position is far enough in until the butterfly doesnt stick anymore. there is actually a procedure though. basically you just turn it in until the motor will barely run on it's own with the iac unplugged.
p.s. if you use carb cleaner dont use the red straw. I've shot two of them down the intake before.Last edited by cld783; 04-23-2010, 01:30 AM.Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. I hold the red straw so I can get the angle on the IAC ports... then take the straw off to hose everything else.

I turned the throttle stop screw in 1 turn. It clicked about 3/4 of the turn, works fine now. Throttle screw won't budge in either direction. Some liquid wrench penetrating stuff didnt really do anything to loosen it up. I don't want to put all of my weight on it in fear of snapping something off of the throttle bodysigpic
