    E6 heads + headers for E7 heads

This works, yes? If not, why? Am being told that fomoco produced at least 4 different port configurations and my BBK shorties probably won't work on my heads. He wants me to bring the headers into the shop and then he'll tell me if they will fit.

I'm 99% sure that you needn't worry, since the e7 ports (and thus the ports on the headers) will be bigger than the ports for your current heads.

That said, if the guy realllllly knows his shit about 80s SBF's, you might as well take him up on his offer, and assuming he doesn't try to turn around and blatantly upsell you, you can try and glean whatever other information you need from him while you're there.

If he's saying the headers won't bolt up at all though, I'm pretty sure there are people on this site with E7 headers on E6 heads.

He's just saying he's not 100% but there's the possibility that they won't fit. I'll take them in over the next couple of days to see what he says.

i wanted to know if the port on the header is the same as the port on your heads.(they are NOT interchangeable) fomoco produces at least 4 different port configs. 1.13"x 1.53" 1.41" round 1.40"x 1.40" & 1.42" x 1.62".

They will fit just fine, many on here have done them. I don't think the exhaust port on e7's is even that different from e6's if different at all.

the bolt pattern and port are IDENTICAL on both heads. the P heads are the only time you have to worry

Thanks guys. You're confirming what I thought. Headers will be going on soon. He said he can get performance gaskets overnighted to us for like 50 bucks

What do you think would be meant by performance gaskets? What brands would qualify. I will probably use whatever he gets.

To piggyback on this, it's perfectly fine if not great to use P headers on a regular 302. The reverse, not so much. Good luck getting to those spark plugs then!

How do you get in there to get the manifolds off, anyway? From underneath? Wondering what I'm gonna be paying this cat for. He did my exhaust from the manifolds back already so making something to match the flanges shouldn't be an issue.

Will headers add much of anything power wise? The intake swap should help too

here is the easy way to do it, unbolt your manifolds from pipes (if you can)
then remove airbox and a few spark plug wires unbolt all bolts going to manifold, said manifild will drop right out th ebottom pretty much.
same thing on ther side remove manifold bolts and out it comes.. although i would reccommend disconeecting the vac line thingy though first.
i also had the added benefit of just unscrewing my ac hose and moving that, nothing in it anyway lol fairly staright forward job . how much power well id say noticable TQ at least my linc takes off quicker far as i know.
