What model kit btw? I love my hp kit in mine And they are super easy to install.

Does that kit make the shifts really hard, or just firm them enough to remove the normal mushy feel? I want to get rid of the mush but I dont want whiplash either.

Erics will break your neck with the 1-2, but I think this one wont be as hard.

Shoulda ridden in my 87 with a TCI strip shift kit. The 2-3 would break your neck and would chirp it with the lopo motor and 3.08s! The 1-2 shift would put the car sideways if you shifted too late.
