      good or no good?

also what would be the advantages of a explorer cam over a HO cam? Could I then run GT40 heads safely?

Your engine already has the good double roller timing chain.

ALL 5.0L passenger cars built 1986 and newer got roller hydraulic cams and double roller timing chains.

a nine position timing chain is helpfull if you plan on advancing or retarding the cam.

just make sure the parts store gives you the right part if you dont get that 9 position jobber. they gave me a single roller chain when i did my 88 HO. i went someplace else because they wanted to argue about it when i asked for the double roller style.

The explorer cam is 256/266 with .422/.448 with a 116 lobe seperation. It'll fit fine. It's a high torque cam, great for a big car..

Mine is 264/270 512/512. on a 114 seperation. the HO cam is a good piece, and I'd think the exploder cam would work nicely on a stock HO and give it a bit more low end grunt than the HO cam

The Explorer shared this cam with all other 302's and all 351's except for the Lightning from 1994 on.
