    Fuel line won't prime

Can't get the fuel line to prime up in the '80 lincoln. Ran fine when hooked up to a washer fluid bottle hooked to the fuel pump. But since I have put the new tank in, the line won't prime. I filled the float bowl up numeruse time's and it will just run off what gas I pour in it and dies. Today I changed the sending unit (Thinking the other one may have had some pin holes in it or somthing) But made no differnce. The Fuel line is new, The fuel pump looks brand new, and woked prior to putting the new tank in.
I tryed to syphon the gas thru the line but just keep getting dribbles off gas.
Im out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.

It's possible your new fuel line has a pinhole in it too. How easy is it to suck through when you try to siphon?

Dunno man, plugged somewhere? If it's not the gas cap thing or the fuel filter.

have you replaced the frame mounted fuel filter? I think the carb cars have that still.

the carb cars usally just have the filter on the carb. did you try hooking up your test tank at the tank hook up and see if it runs? how much of the "new" fuel line is new? cause the section of line that runs behind the front wheel inner fender is bad for rotting out(done it a few times). make sure every inch of the fuel line is in good shape and you have the right line hooked up. also, try blowing back through the line.

Replace your rubber fuel lines. If they are rotted they can actually collapse from the vacuum from the fuel pump. That and make sure your tank has gas in it!

try hooking up a rubber line and just put it into mthe tank with the sender removed and see if it works.

He said it ran fine when hooked up to an external tank ( how long ago was that? ) . If it was a while ago the fuel pump could be toast. Hooking up an external fuel source to the fuel pump again would tell you if it's good. If not replace the pump.

Otherwise the rubber fuel lines could be collapsing, the hard line could be plugged up or kinked, There's a hole somewhere in the fuel line or there's an issue with the fuel pick up in the tank.

Shes fixed and running good. Found a split in the rubber line that comes from the unit to the steel fuel line..
                              Thanks for the tips guys.
