Check LEvel?

hey guys

quick q,on our cars wat kind of oil do we put in,i forget.but i ask because the ceck level light is on and shes smoking a lil bit? but when i check the oil it says its slap full even above that mark,altho someone pointed out,that it was a lil dark. any ideas???

10w30 or 10w40 is fine. Not all of the dipsticks are accurate though. Change the oil and filer, put in 5 quarts, and run it for a minute. Shut the engine off, and check the oil after a couple minutes .Whatever the oil level is, thats full. If its way above full on the dipstick, scribe a new line and use that for reference.
