What is the point of freeze plugs anyways...lol, I pulled my engine completely by myself when I was 19, with only my trusty $100 engine crane I bought off craigslist. Never pulled an engine in my life before, this is just for reference....its not hard in these cars.

They also usually pop first if some numb nutz leaves water in the cooling system during the winter. This has saved my ass a couple of times in one of my Ladas and my pickup.1990 LTD Crown Vic w/ dead 5.0

Don't sweat the connectors too much.
It's been awhile but I believe the other poster was right the connectors should only fit their respective mates but the tip about labeling them was a good idea too.
Here are some other tips:
If you have a digital camera take pics of different angles for reference.
Get a box of cheap plastic zip-lok bgs from the dollar store and a sharpie marker as you disassemble but the nuts/bolts in the bags and label what they fit.
Pick up some fitting removal tools for cheap at the parts store. Either the "scissors" type or the plastic ring ones should work.
Before you even start look at the motor/trans from different angles to get an idea/feel for where everything is and how it fits.Current stable:

Once you unbolt the motor mounts, you can get a few inches before the trans tops out on the trans tunnel. You won't really have to mess with much else to get that far. Beyond that though, you'll need to start unhooking things.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I admit defeat - Can't get it pulled, so gotta sell it
I am not going to go into the long drawn out story, but the short of it is I am in over my head trying to pull my engine.
I have to admit defeat. I cannot do it. Period.
I have to head home to Texas in 9 days, so the Grand Marquis has to get sold as a parts car or project car, now that I have all the accessories removed, hoses, lines, etc disconnected.
So, look in the for sale section if anyone is local to me and wants a nice 1990 Grand Marquis GS for $500 bucks. Needs freeze plugs replaced and the engine and accessories remounted. Once that is done it will be a damned nice car. Engine sounded/ awesome, transmission shifted great, car drove great. Just had a neglected cooling system that caused the freeze plugs to rot.
