New to the forum. Have a 1987 two door with the 5.0 L has run wonderfully for the last year and a half. The other day on the way home just died. Started up and ran for about 20 minutes the next evening. Now it cranks but won't start. Get's gas but no spark. Where should I start?

Checked the fuel pressure at the fuel filter. I haven't checked at the injectors just assuming it's there. I checked for spark by connecting a timing light and cranking.
I did check the cap and rotor seems fine, replaced the coil. Is there any way to test the ignition module? I suspect that is the problem but hate to spend the money for nothing.

TFI module. Its a known failure point on these, and it almost always dies with the same symptoms you describe. Tests aren't usually very accurate, but some stores may have an ignition module tester. I'd still buy a new one even if the old one tests OK tho. They have been known to get intermittent with heat, and the engine will run for a while and die, and not restart until it cools off.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

The TFI module is held in by 2 5.5mm bolts. Some people have had luck fitting thin wall sockets in there to remove the bolts. Others not so lucky. There's a tool you can buy at the parts store specifically for this.
