That doesn't necessarily mean that your pump is dead, that just means you're not getting any fuel. Your fuel pump relay could be bad.

yea, id check the relay first and make sure there is power to the pump before concluding the pumps fault.

those connections at the relays really like to corrode so definitely check the relay first.

bypass the relay and see if the fuel pump comes on.

Fuel pumps usually work, or totally don't work. Seldom do they come back from the dead for an encore performance. They're also usually pretty reliable. I pulled my good one at over 160k, and the one in the Mark VII was replaced about 195k miles.

I've seen people hit the fuel tank with a rubber mallet and get the pump to work past the bad spot they have.

That actually worked on my mom's truck to get it to the shop to have the pump replaced. If I did that to make it go, I would probably drive it to the parts store for a new pump, then straight home to change it. I'd never count on being able to bang on the tank to make it work again, or for very long.

Yeah, once it's running, don't shut it off till you have it at a place you're going to replace the pump.
