I was looking on rockauto.com and found a Walker Dual Exhaust system for my GM it ends up being a total of $258. I choose Walker SoundFX mufflers do they produce a nice muscular sound to my GM.

Stock dual exhaust parts are pretty reasonable, and there shouldn't be much welding involved unless you welded in the mufflers instead of clamping them. Not a bad thing to do if you have that option.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

To answer the original question, yes, SoundFX mufflers are a reasonable muffler. They're not going to sound like anything particularly special, as they're just Walker's basic stock-replacement muffler, but they'll keep sound levels under control while still letting through a little burble. The QuietFlow for more like $80 or $90 each would be the one to buy if you want really quiet.
You can save a little money by getting the "economy" mufflers from AutoZone for more like $20 each (as of a few years ago, anyway), but I guess you can think of the extra $10-$15 each as being for the factory-style hanger bracket, which will make your life a bit easier during installation. Walker also has a couple of cheaper mufflers available, but they're also universal-fit like the AZ economy mufflers, so you'd have to make up your own hangers.
Speaking of hangers, if you're spending the extra few bucks to get direct-fit mufflers, you may want to make sure you can get hold of a factory-style hanger for the driver's side.
Last I checked, it seemed the prices at RockAuto for the pipes and such were all pretty reasonable, just gotta take the cost of shipping into account since places like AdvanceAutoParts.com ship some things for free. Oh, cheapo replacement mufflers will (probably?) growl (mine do a bit, anyway, though the ones I'm running now are 2.5" in and 2.25" out), it just may or may not be a specific enough type of growl to suit your tastes.
One place to start would be to look up "The Sounds of Dynomax" where some Walker reps toss a variety of mufflers on a sample crate motor at a show. You can find it either on YouTube or at the Dynomax website, and it's a very nifty comparison.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!
