my mercs that ive used for winter, iv removed the solinoids and used graphite grease to lube the locks. my 85 merc however is differnent tho. the lock cylinder seems to keep icing up.

I had a different issue today. I couldnt turn the key in the key hole so I just used my key fob and everything opened right up no problem.~David~

yea...my key is hard to put in the lock, i have to blow hot air on it and heat the key up to get it to move

I've been getting locked out every time it's much below freezing, and I'm about 300 feet away from the door (and any plugs). It's also too damn windy to get a lighter flame going on the key while it's in the door.

10 minutes with the lighter to-key trick in both doors. The key turns about 1/8th of a turn in the lock but stops after that. I guess something else is frozen in there. Next time it's forecast to be above freezing here? 15th.

your lock acuator is prolly froze. they develop moisture when you wash your car and when it rains. then when it gets cold, the moisture freezes.

As an unintended (but pleasing) side effect, my mother is now convinced that I should have the underground parking spot whenever it's below zero. Maybe I'll finally get the other 4 plugs changed
