Has anyone had any experience iwth this intake? plus 2 other questions.

I was looking thoruhg my summit catalog today and stumbled upon this:

Has anyone had any experience with on (ie, were the gains noticable)? Also, if were to get this, I would most likely swap to a mustang pulley system (then I could get both valve covers on). How hard would that be? And last question, If I do swap to the mustang accesory setup, would I be able to use a musatng cold air intake kit?

I was going 351 for this car, but I figured I'd save that for the coupe project I want to do after I finish this one.

What's the rest of the combo going to be? Stock everything but the intake, or are you going to do a little head/cam/intake swap?

On a 302, that intake with a 75mm TB is pretty good for a street setup. A truck i built for a friend runs that intake on a h/c/i 302 and it made 310hp to the wheels through a massive E40d trans.

probably gt40 heads, or depending on how money is going, trick flow twisted wedge. Either a mustang or explorer cam (unless I can get a beefier cam with the stock pistons). An yes, I was planning on a 75mm throttle body. Im pulling the engine next summer (ill have postive cash flwo) to clean and paint everything, so I figured I might as well upgrade what I can.

Stock valve covers wont fit with this flipped to the drivers side? Why swapping the serpentine setup?

I got a pair of ford racing valve covers a couple years back. The oil fill on one of them is farther back than the factory ones (they are made for a musatng) So as long as the intake is facing the drivers side, I cant use the other one. I only have one of them on now.

Well, look at it this way. The going rate for a fresh set of rebuilt Exploder heads is *typically* $400-600 or somewhere close to that. I've seen Trickflow Twisted Wedge 170's (perfect for a street 302) in the area of $700-$1000 used with low miles.

I can understand the concern about stock pistons, but why not get a set of cheap hyper pistons that will allow a more ideal compression ratio? And in turn allow you to run a more optimal cam. Perhaps you could even find someone selling their rebuilt 302 'Stang shortblock cheap if you look around. Even things like the intake and throttle body are popular enough in the mustang community you could pick up a used one cheap.

Just a few thoughts to help you ponder what to do.

i had thought about upgrading the pistons (or least find a set of stock stang pistons, which shouldnt be to hard) I might just poke around a few mustang forums over the next coupe months and see what I cant come up with.

oic. They do look good, and I am all for you doing whatever you want but is it worth changing the entire front end around to get at set of valve covers to fit? BTW if you are looking for a fancy intake just swap on a 90/91 CV GMQ inner fender and buy a K&N air intake set up for a 2003 Crown Victoria and be done with everything.

Shop replacement K&N air filters, cold air intakes, oil filters, cabin filters, home air filters, and other high performance parts. Factory direct from the official K&N website.

I'd get different valve covers before I changed the accessories over, but thats just me. I've assisted with an accessory swap before, and it sucked. Admittedly, the stock setup isn't quite hot shit, but at least it fits.

ok, debating on the accesory swap now, but another question, would I be fine with the stock mustang (19lb/hr) injectors? Or would I be wise to go with 24's

If you're expecting much more than 280hp then you're going to need 24's and a tune

stock cam should be just fine with stock injectors. Once you get out of that realm, more injector and a proper tune helps a lot.
