    Landlord has a backhoe......I'll ask....long story.....but I know it won't happen.

Nope, don't have a buddy with a tow truck. I do have access to a newer ford explorer 4x4 with a tow hitch. I do have chains and straps. However the driveway is not bare...it's sanded, but there may not be enough traction to yank the parts-car out. I'll have to think on this a bit.

There are several heavy pipes around that could be used with a chain for FatNasty's idea though. I'm 6-foot 190-lbs and in shape. Not many other able-bodied people I could ask for help that are tall though. I have a friend I know would help, and he's a strong, but he's like 5' 3".

What kind of pistons does the lopo have anyway?
I know the 5.0 HO has forged aluminum, but this particular one also has 168k miles on it.
My mileage is currently @ 87k.

Another thing on my mind is that I remember reading a post by Scott somewhere saying that the HO conversions had more "ass" than HO transplants.

down to a block and crank it shouldn't be too tough, i'm a lot taller, but the car was way in the air but i pulled it off, and that was using a pretty heavy bar. If you have the will, that block will come out of the car. 200-230lbs with the crank i'm guessing, anyone have a better guess? that shouldn't stop anyone with a friend. idk, maybe im being optimistic, just get mad at it and it will come out:P

Get it all ready to pull out. Get all your parts off.

Call a junk yard, have them pull it out for you and then haul the car away.

As long as you wrap it well and lube the cylinders you can store it outside.

I foresee busted knuckles and smashed dreams.

I'd just wait till you get the opportunity to use a lift and pull the engine/trans as one piece. It's much easier that way and you will avoid alot of frustration..

I know this is not the best way to approach this. I think it's going to be a royal pain. I also think I'll learn a lot in the process. I'm asking as many questions as I can to prepare myself for all the problems that I'm sure I will run into.

It's not every day you get the chance to get everything you need for an HO conversion offered to you. I have already had this opportunity slip past me once....Damned if I'm going to let it happen again.

                    That was my original plan.
But if it's worth the effort to at least try to get the block, then I have to at least give it a shot

Your best bet if you want it all, I would think would be to strip it down to a short block, and then do something similar to what fatnasty suggested.

Is it that impossible to stick some wheels on it and turn the thing around?

Since that pic was taken there have been wheels+tires put on it. There has also been a lot more junk tossed inside it. The air suspension is completely down. I need to get the h-pipe off it, or it will get caught on the un-even ground.

I don't know were the keys are, so the steering wheel will be locked.
Does the mark VII shifter come out of park without the keys?

Does the owner want the steering column? If not just drill the lock, hook a chain to the rear of the car and yank it out of the hole.

Nope, I forgot I had the option of hacking the lock.
They are going to check for the keys. Last I knew this car still ran if you put a battery in it.
