If you just need to be able to steer it just bust the plastic around the steering column, push the lock pin and put a piece of sheet metal or something in front of the lock pin. One time picking up a car I bought at impound that didn't come with keys, we just busted the plastic and used a screw driver to keep the pin from locking the steering wheel.

if tou can get somethin to yank the engine and trans out, you can cut out the front rad support and remove the hood, might be easyer to slide everything out. would be more easy if the car was backed into its spot instead of forward.

Yes, that's a tailgate inside the car....

there's about 4 feet in front of the car, then a little bridge over the stream you can't see under the snow.

Ground is more even on this side. RR tire is flat, skinny fronts are sunken into the ground a bit.

Don't have the $$$ for that right now (unless the landlord helps me out).
I do however like the idea of chopping shit out of my way....and I do have a sawsall...

I also kind of hope they find the keys as I'd like to hear this thing run. It's been sitting for over a year, this would be the 2nd winter it sat through. If it starts knocking like crazy....or doesn't stop knocking after initial start up...lol....I may not even want the block/crank.

That's not so much the problem as getting it shoved back in there afterwards.
......well that and trying not to rip the h-pipe off.

yes, the Mark shifter comes out of park without the keys. No interlock for whatever goofy reason. Always thought it was a little bit strange to tell you the truth.

                      Update:

Finished shoveling the car out today. Next up will be getting all the junk out of the interior. Keys were supposed to be in the ignition (they weren't). Maybe if I'm lucky I will find them once I can physically get "in" the car.

I'm assuming I can bypass this? (can someone PM me with a how-to of sorts?)

Bad news.....the air suspension is not going to come up even if I do get it started...it was hacked for parts. So for sure I need to pull the exhaust off before I try moving it.

if the column isn't needed for parts, you can usually break the steering lock by reefing on the wheel, or you can try and drill the pin out that locks the cylinder into place. Its small and hardened though, so its probably easier to just bust the casting around the lock cylinder out, and slide it out. Turn the rod inside the column with a screwdriver.

Not that I know of......So I suppose I should ask another question....
Are there any other bits and pieces on a mark VII that I should snag that I may find a use for at some point?

lock actuators are basically the same, other than the rod. window motors are the same, trans fits a Lincoln, seats can be modded to fit, trunk sucker could probably be modified.

If you have thoughts on adding more trunk light, the Mark VII has the secret piece. It uses a separate tilt switch thats attached near the passenger side trunk hinge on the trunk lid itself. You could use that to power extra lights in the trunk only when the trunk opens.

Well I already pulled the "trunk-sucker" and the whole harness with it, so I guess I must have grabbed that secret part too.

Trans has issue's I'm told so no loss there. Is the tourque converter worth grabbing?

I'll have to grab the lock actuators, one of mine is a but funky. I looked at the window motors and I thought they looked bigger than the one's in my car.

On the seats, the leather is shot (probably mildew in there too), and it's too bad because they have nice bolsters on them. But I thought fox-body seats didn't work on 90-91 panthers?

the small black 2 wire thing with the orange tag on the wires is the lighting tilt switch.

torque converter isn't worth bothering with. The trans only fits a Lincoln without driveshaft mods anyway so no big loss there.

window motors, forgot you have a 91. I think the old ones will still fit though. You can get replacements for the big old style, and they look like the little flat jobbers used on the 90-91 models.

As for the seats, anything can be made to fit anything with the proper amount of effort. I know someone who runs 88 Bill Blass seats in a 94 Towncar.
