so grounding the self-test connector with the key on does not cause the pump to run, but jumping the relay makes the pump run? The only thing that I can explain that with is a failed fuel pump relay, or messed up wiring at the pump relay. I've seen the relay sockets crumble, and the wires fall out before. One of the relays in my car actually has a zip tie around it to hold the wire in place and I keep forgetting to get a new socket for it. The wiring from the fuel pump in the self test connector actually should go directly to the fuel pump relay, not back to the ecm. Pull the split loom back a bit to confirm that but I'm about 99% sure the wire goes from ECM to the self test connector, then from self test to the relay. Jumping that particular wire out totally takes the ECM out of the picture. You could actually unplug it from the car entirely with that wire jumped and the pump ought to run.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

well fuck me! just for shits and giggles i put the car in neutral and it started and ran! for starters isnt the neutral safty switch supposed to stop me from starting in N any ways when i put it in park it stalls going for a test drive right now.My wife and I.sigpic

ok well i went out to take it for a test drive it wont even move in drive and it makes a racket from underneath like a torque converter makes when the bolts are loose and eventuanlly stalls in drive. do you think this may be a torque converter problem?My wife and I.sigpic
